Teens, please join us at the 2008 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference!
The 2007-2008 State 4-H Council would like to invite all Iowa youth (8th-12th grades) to attend the 2008 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference with Animal Science ROUNDUP, and CSI: Crops. This exciting
event, held June 24th-June 26th, offers a wide variety of new experiences and opportunities to today’s youth.
What is the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference?
Conference consists of:
• A gathering of more than 1,000 youth delegates from around the state
• A three-day event held on the Iowa State University campus
• Educational, fun, innovative workshops (workshop schedule)
• Motivational speakers
• Enriching community service projects
• Evening entertainment activities: dances, bowling, casino night, swimming
• Iowa Picnic, formal banquet
• Residential life in Iowa State residence halls
• A chance to share your talents and creativity in the Talent Show
What is Animal Science ROUNDUP?
• Most of the above and MORE!
• Specialized workshops focusing on beef, sheep, swine, dairy, dairy goat, and horse
• New animal agriculture technologies
• Introduce career opportunities in animal agriculture
What is CSI: Crops?
• Specialized workshops focusing on agronomy and its many facets
• Find out about GMO’s, GPS, FEEL, ELISA, and DNA
• Conduct a plant crime scene investigation - solve insect, disease, weed, and plant growth problems
What about cost?
• $120.00 per delegate
· cost includes all meals, housing and events
· some areas have added transportation costs
• Partial Scholarships available from the Iowa 4-H Foundation
• Inquire about financial support from local groups and businesses
We hope that conference leaves delegates with good memories and new friendships. We also hope youth are motivated by the workshops, service projects, and speakers to take what they learned back to benefit their own communities.
