   Philosophy and methods of conducting and communicating action research. Design of classroom-based educational research for practicing teachers. Provides the knowledge and skills to use action research as a teaching and problem solving methodology in the classroom. Designed primarily for individuals involved in teaching or development of instructional materials or students in M.Ed. programs.

Prerequisites: One course in research methods, educational inquiry, statistics, educational psychology or instructional design.

Computer Requirements: Internet access, e-mail capabilities

Note: May be applied toward Master of Education with specialization in curriculum and instructional technology

Enrollment Deadline: January 4, 2008

   Standards-Focused Project Based Learning Model to develop instructional units. During the course, students will work through a set of online modules designed to teach the five major planning elements of PBL and will learn how technology can be used to strengthen project based learning experiences.. Online discussions, readings and activities will be centered on exploration of issues related to PBL. As a culminating activity, students will develop a PBL unit for use in their own teaching or training.

Prerequisites: Graduate Classification in Curriculum and Instruction & member of the 2006 M.Ed. cohort
