This course will be an introduction to many of the ethical problems addressed in the daily routines of working members of the criminal justice system. Students will address the strengths and weaknesses of the criminal justice system and how they impact interpersonal social interaction. Students also will address morality, ethics, and human behavior, how to determine moral behavior, the differences between justice and the law, issues in retributive justice, the ethics of social control, system corruption and the "Code", ethics and law enforcement practices, ethics and legal professionals, ethical issues for prosecutors and judges, the ethics of punishment, ethics for correctional professionals, and the ethics involved in the application of criminal justice policy.
Recommended Prerequisites: CJST 240, Soc/CJST 241
