The Story County 4-H Foundation reached its goal of $100,000 by 2007. Those dollars are now available to youth and adults in the 4-H program. Distributions will come from interest and gains on the endowment.

Anyone (youth or adult) who is carrying out an educational program or activity which benefits 4-H youth in Story County may apply for a grant to help cover their costs. These may be educational workshops or activities. They may be club or community projects developed and carried out by the 4-H’ers for the benefit of others. In addition, youth or adult volunteers may request financial assistance to attend conferences and activities. Lastly, leaders of new clubs or groups are encouraged to seek assistance with member fees. The Foundation will pay membership fees for members of newly formed clubs/groups the first year and provide additional assistance the second year.

Requests for dollars may be made four times a year with applications due June 1, September 1, December 1, and March 1. The dollars available are limited by the amount of interest and gains received on the endowment each year. Those who receive their grant request will receive it early in the months of July, October, January, and April.

Application forms and tip sheets (click here) are available online and may also be picked up at the Story County Extension Office.

The Story County 4-H Foundation was established to provide support for the youth and programs of the county. The focus of these efforts is:

  • To support a strong, safe, and vital 4-H program
  • To support educational programs that encourage growth and excitement in youth
  • To make 4-H more accessible to more youth
  • To support and recognize youth and adults in the program
