4-H FIRST Tech Challenge Club Seeks Adult Volunteers and Youth Members
Adult volunteers and youth members are needed for the next step of FIRST Robotics: FIRST Tech Challenge! FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics competition for kids aged 12 to 18 (grades 7 – 12). Teams of students will design, build, and program a robot that will be used to complete tasks while competing against other teams. FTC will help prepare students for further education and careers in STEM programs (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), provide $14 million in scholarship opportunities, improve their professionalism, and provide real-world experience that will last for years to come.
Volunteers
Volunteers should have the following qualities:
- Interest in working with 7th through 12th graders
- Interest in encouraging youth as they learn about engineering and programming
- Knowledge of engineering or programming, or otherwise good coaching or organizational skills
Volunteers would have the following responsibilities:
- Successfully complete a 4-H Volunteer Screening
- Complete a short volunteer training session
- Commit up to one year with the club (renewable each year)
- Organize club meetings
Youth Members
Member qualifications:
- Anyone in 7th through 12th grade
- An interest in robotics, engineering, programming, and/or team competition
- Ability to attend club meetings
