Wonderwise: Women in Science Learning Series is a curriculum that covers a range of science topics. Wonderwise introduces youth to women who have made science their career. These scientists are leaders in their respective fields. The curriculum is built upon the concept of participants doing the same type of hands-on activities that scientists model in the video. There are nine different units designed around different scientists. Wonderwise is a valuable tool for everyone for learning good science concepts. The curriculum also presents role models for young girls helping them see the possibilities for science careers for women.
Format:
Each kit is a comprehensive instructional package that includes a video, CD-ROM and activity book. With these materials, leaders and youth explore the world and discover together the fun of learning about science. Each activity book features hands-on activities designed for 8 to 12 year olds. Each activity can be used in any order. Also included are objectives and learning outcomes, assessment questions, ideas for a presentation or exhibit and topics for further investigation. Story County also has available some kits that include other needed materials to complete the activities.
