Description:

"Growing in the Garden" sows seeds to capture the curiosity of students in grades K-3 as they learn about and experience agriculture and natural resources throughout their lives. Students' faces light up when they discover living and non-living things, plant seeds, sing about parts of plants, become garden creatures in a melodrama, paint like Monet, read thought-provoking and colorful books, practice garden math, make mud pies, watch seeds travel, build food guide pyramids, travel through food mazes, watch worms squiggle through soil, and much more.

Format:

Eight to 10 lessons follow standards and benchmarks and create opportunities to build life skills.

Science Skills:

Observing, communicating, comparing/measuring, ordering, categorizing, relating, inferring, applying

Life Skills:

Taking responsibility, communicating, critical thinking
