Story County Summer Day Camps

Join Story County 4-H in discovering the world through fun and exciting summer programs!

 

Cost: $20 - $25 per program per child

  • Ames Location: Black's Heritage Farm
  • Nevada Location: Story County Extension Office
  • Huxley Location: Nord Kalsem Park Community Center

Camps are offered for youth that have completed 1st - 3rd grade or 4th - 6th grade.

Move It!

June 11th, Ames (Registration)

9:00 am - 3:30 pm Grades: 4th - 6th

Youth will test the forces of mothion as they construct and compete with rockets, shuttles, planes, boats and cars.

 

 

Energy for the Future

July 1st, Nevada (Registration)

July 2nd, Ames (Registration)

Create projects exploring renewable energy through the sun, wind, water, and heat from the ground.

 

Wound for Wind

June 13th, Ames (Registration)

Youth will create wind powered structures that generate energy to power objects.                                                                                                                                               

 

Constructing a Future with Robots

July 8th, Nevada (Registration)

Learn how robots are being designed, how they work, and the careers associated with them, while also designing and building a robot.                            

Exploring the Universe

Gain knowledge of astronomy and how the parts of the universe work together while also "exploring the moon.

Suit Up, Veterinarian Style

Learn all about animals, their health, behaviors, and emergency care.

Growing in the Garden

June 20th, Huxley (Registration)

9:00 am - noon, Grades 1st - 3rd

Kids will learn about how their food is grown and ways they can live a healthy lifestyle.

 

A Structurally Sound Foundation

Dig deeper into science by finding out what engineers do, how things work, along with having the opportunity to construct bridges

Become a Food Scientist

Learn about cheese, electricity, and explosions and how they intermix through hands-on activities

The Law of Physics

Build, test, and explore matter and the movement it makes through projects including catapults, boats, and egg drops.

Art Attack
