4-H Cyclone Pet Partners

Are you interested in making a difference in your community? Do you think you and your dog would make good partners? It is called Animal-Assisted Therapy and it is a new way to serve and support people in nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and libraries with your dog at your side!

The Cyclone Pet Partners focus on understanding their dogs better and training their dogs basic obedience. Then they participate in a workshop to prepare for registration with the Delta Society, which enables the teams to visit various facilities to provide comfort and help to those in need.

Currently the Cyclone Pet Partners are working on programs with:

  • Ames Public Library

  • Operation Military Kids

  • and 1-2 local nursing homes
