NC Advisory Board

Pursuant to the passage of SF 2331, Section 12, oversight for each Regional STEM Hub Network will be provided by a Regional Advisory Board. Members of the six advisory boards shall be appointed by the Governor. Interested stakeholders must file an application through the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions.

The Iowa Regional STEM Hub Network is a system of six geographic areas strategically positioned across Iowa where communities, counties, multi-county regions and the state can achieve improved STEM education, coordination and communication opportunities and advancement. It is expected that current and developing STEM activities will span one or more Iowa STEM Regions. Regions will share information, work together and be interconnected by coordination of resources which can also provide a gateway to other networks and initiatives.

Regional Board members are appointed by the Governor and serve up to three (3) years in staggered terms. Members must be registered voters in Iowa and reside or work within the Region. Ex officio membership of statewide, national or international representatives is welcome.

• All applicants will complete a Gubernatorial Application Form provided by the Governor’s office.
• All applications, whether received by the Governor’s office or the regional STEM hub, will be forwarded to the Governor’s office for consideration.
• Any person, including regional managers, may forward a recommendation for any applicant to the Governor’s office.
• Each Regional Advisory Board will have a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 15 members with various expertise and professional qualifications (see list below). At least one representative from each of the lists below should be included on each Regional Advisory Board. Balance in representation across stakeholder groups is required. Individual members may fulfill more than one required representation.
• When selecting the appointments for positions on the Regional STEM Advisory Boards, the Governor should give strong consideration to reflect diversity in gender, political affiliations, racial/ethnic, disability and other measures of diversity. 
• Members of the Regional STEM Advisory Boards will serve staggered three-year terms and may serve a total of three terms. Terms will begin on July 1 and end on June 30.
