4-H and FFA Sheep Weigh-Ins - May 3
4-H’ers and FFA members are reminded of the Sheep and Meat Goat Weigh-Ins on Saturday, May 3 from 8:00 am til noon at the Sioux Center Fairgrounds. Iowa State Fair lambs and goats (wethers only) will be weighed and verified by retinal image scanning first (8:00 am) with county fair animals to follow. Please have your animals tagged prior to weigh-ins.
4-H Fashion Workshop - May 10
4-H’ers and their moms are invited to the second 4-H Fashion Fun! Workshop on Saturday, May 10 from 7:30 am – 10:00 am. Meet at the Sioux Center Mall for breakfast, then allow the Maurice’s staff to assist you in choosing an outfit. Items purchased for 4-H are eligible for a 15% discount. There will be a 30% discount for the outfit and explanation “judged” to be the best. After choosing your garments, 4-H’ers will learn about design elements in clothing, how to model your garment, details about the NEW “$15 Challenge,” get advice about how to complete the forms for Fashion Revue and Clothing Selection and meeting with the judge. Call the Extension Office at 712-737-4230 by Wednesday, May 7 to register – cost is $5.00 per person, payable the day of the workshop.
4-H Fair Entry and Animal Identification Deadline – May 15
All 4-H’ers and FFA members planning to exhibit livestock at any 4-H show are reminded to have their entries forms, payment, and animal identification sheets returned to the Sioux County Extension Office by the May 15 deadline. Checks can be written to the “Sioux County Youth Fair” and entries mailed to Sioux County Extension, 400 Central Ave NW, Suite 700, Orange City IA 51041. Animals must be tagged, or identified by other acceptable methods, by this date. Entries must be delivered to the Extension Office or postmarked on May 15. Spot checks for animal identifications will take place after May 15. Exhibitors with livestock housed other than at their home address must complete a Livestock Location Form.
