Extension Publication Gives Tips for Home Garden Vegetable Selection

The publication, written by Richard Jauron, Cynthia Haynes and Ajay Nair, ISU extension horticulturists, suggests produce varieties suited for Iowa gardens based on characteristics such as color, size, texture, flavor, vigor and early or late harvest. The publication includes more than 60 crops.

“Some people may be overwhelmed by the large number of vegetable varieties when they browse through garden catalogs and may have difficulty selecting varieties,” said Jauron. “This publication will help gardeners make good choices when purchasing vegetable seeds.
