AmeriCorps Service Opportunities

The City of Davenport Parks and Recreation, Davenport Community Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley, and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach are pleased to promote AmeriCorps service opportunities for the 2014-2015 program year serving children and youth in the Davenport area.
AmeriCorps is a program of the U.S. federal government engaging adults in intensive community service work with the goal of helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.  Members commit to full-time or part-time positions offered by a network of nonprofit community organizations and public agencies, to fulfill assignments in the fields of education, public safety, health care, and environmental protection.  The program is often compared to the Peace Corps as its domestic counterpart.  for more information about AmeriCorps, visit the Corporation for national and Community Service at
AmeriCorps members receive a living stipend and an educational award that can be used for post-secondary education or toward the payment of student loans.  Service as an AmeriCorps member is a wonderful way to work with dedicated professionals, learn valuable skills, build your resume, and give back to your community!  Many positions have flexible schedules, as well!
This year, we have opportunities for full-time and part-time service members, working with a variety of age groups.  For more information, or to apply, visit the City of Davenport Human Resources website at:
