Program: This program will facilitate the development of a State certified Local Housing Trust Fund (LHTF). It will result in the creation of a collaboration to address the local affordable housing needs of a particular geographical area. Interested parties will be assisted in receiving state certification and applying for funds from the Iowa State Housing Trust Fund, administered by the Iowa Finance Authority. The LHTF is a financial tool used to procure and distribute funds for the creation and/or preservation of affordable housing in a designated area.
Audience: Any group in Iowa that is not currently served by a LHTF and can meet the criteria established by the Iowa Finance Authority for becoming a LHTF. All counties are eligible to establish a LHTF, as are all cities of 10,000 and over.
Estimated Fee: no fee
Zero cost to participate as the program is funded by a grant from the Iowa Finance Authority.
Delivery Schedule: The program can be provided at anytime and may run from five to eighteen months. Two candidates will be selected per year to participate.
