Program: The Retail Trade Analysis portfolio is comprised of many products intended to advance a community’s understanding of its unique retail landscape. The three main products are:
1. Local presentations describing trends and characteristics of the local retail sector, with emphasis on analysis of available retail sales data to portray both historical and current retail sales performance.
2. A customized profile of a community’s trade region including its population siize, geographic extent and market demographics. Includes regional profile and comparisons with similar trade centers as well as geographical competing trade centers.
3. Retail community visioning process utilizing retail sales data, geographic information, and general retail trends. The product includes assessment of the likelihood of survival of particular business types as well as a planning component looking towards the future of a community’ retail sector in terms of sustainability.
Audience: Economic development groups, Chamber of Commerce members, local government officials, community groups, business owners and commercial property owners and developers.
Estimated Fee:
Fees are dependent upon the scope of the project and the method of delivery. The standard local presentation of retail data and analysis is $500 for a single community or $500-$750 for multi-community or multi-county groups. The customized retail trade area assessment with demographic, geographic and trade area mapping profiles ranges between $750 and $1,000. The specialized retail community visioning process is intended to be carried out as a series of meetings, with a presentation and a report. The fee is dependent upon the degree of analysis, research, and community interaction necessary but typically is between $750 and $2,500.
Location: Presentations can be made in the subject community or region as schedules permit, across the State of Iowa. Presentations and meetings can also be scheduled using web resources such as podcasts and webinars to reduce expenses for a community or region and to promote ease of scheduling.
Delivery Schedule: Dependent upon mode of delivery and location, however in general the request should be made at least six weeks prior to expected delivery. On site presentations may require more time for delivery due to demand.
