Community Design & Visioning

PLaCE (Partnering Landscape and Community Enhancement)

Program: Provides assistance to create concept plan aimed at enhancing and promoting quality and character of a landscape or community. Past projects include historic preservation feasibility studies; housing needs assessments; development of downtown revitalization plans, city and county comprehensive plans, park and trail master plans, etc.

Audience: Communities; local governments; nonprofit organizations

Sponsor/Provider: Institute for Design Research and Outreach, College of Design

Estimated Fee: Depending on scope and duration, projects typically cost $3,000 to $5,000. In-kind local services (meeting space, meals, some materials) often are solicited.

Location: Communities

Availability: Applications received by February 1 will be reviewed for implementation the following summer or fall. Applications received by October 1 will be reviewed for implementation the following spring or summer. Applicants will be notified of the status of their request within 8 weeks of each deadline.

Delivery Schedule: Programs are typically structured around the academic semester.
