PLACE (Partnering Learning and Community Engagement)

Program: Provides assistance to create concept plan aimed at enhancing and promoting quality and character of a landscape or community. Past projects include wayfinding plans, graphic design for Main Street businesses, development of downtown revitalization plans, city and county comprehensive plans, park and trail master plans, etc.

Audience: Communities; local governments; nonprofit organizations

Sponsor/Provider: Institute for Design Research and Outreach, College of Design

Estimated Fee: Depending on scope and duration, projects typically cost $3,000 to $5,000. In-kind local services (meeting space, meals, some materials) often are solicited.

Location: Communities

Availability: Applications received by February 1 will be reviewed for implementation the following summer or fall. Applications received by October 1 will be reviewed for implementation the following spring or summer. Applicants will be notified of the status of their request within 8 weeks of each deadline.

Delivery Schedule: Programs are typically structured around the academic semester.
