A 3 day class will be offered at Community Hope Church in Montezuma for youth in grades 5th through 8th. The class will be offered Tuesday, March 25th and Thursday, March 27th from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. Saturday, March 29th from 9 to Noon. Classes will cover Safe-ty, Child Development, Nutrition, Playtime, and the business of being a babysitter. Pre-registration is required by March 21st. 3rd grade Clover Kids and 4-H members and adults are invited to the Foster Center at Diamond Lake on March 8th to build your own Bird Feeder. The workshop will run from 9 to 11. Please bring $10 to cover the cost of the material and if you are in 3rd or 4th grade, please bring an adult to help you. Class size is limited to 15, so call early to register. Please register by March 3rd . A snack will be provided.
The “Roomless Room” or Decorate Your Room Workshop
Saturday March 29th from 9a.m. to12 p,m. at Village Decorating in Grinnell. Jessica Long will lead you through the basic steps of designing and decorating a room. You will get to create your own “Design Box”. This is a great opportunity to pull together all the elements of a room you may be considering designing. If you do not have a room to redecorate, come anyway Pre-register by March 26th by calling or emailing the Extension Office. This can be a great exhibit for county fair!!
Let’s get out and welcome Spring! Sunday, March 23rd, 1 – 3 p.m, Foster Center We will learn some of the basics of birding, do a little bird-watching and Id’ing and build birdhouses. This is open to family and friends. Call the Extension Office by March 20th to register.
2014 Junior Master Gardeners
The Junior Master Gardeners will begin meeting on Thursdays March 27th from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at the fairgrounds. Junior Master Gardeners is open to youth in 4th through 8th grade. The Junior Master Gardeners plan and grow a vegetable garden, maintain an herb and flower garden at the fairgrounds and anoth-er vegetable garden at the community gardens in Grinnell. They design, plan and maintain the gardens under the direction of Betsy Cranston. Produce will be able to be shown at Poweshiek County Fair and the Iowa State Fair. Last year's exhibitors did awesome at the state fair, bringing home several first place ribbons in various classes.
