Central Iowa Farmland leasing Meeting Set
ISU Extension and Outreach will address cash rental rate and related topics at more than 50 meetings statewide in July and August. Central Iowa meeting locations include Boone on July 31, Knoxville and Altoona on August 1, Grinnell on August 2, Adel on August 3, Nevada and Newton on August 6, Indianola on August 8, Marshalltown on August 23 and Winterset on August 24. These meetings will be facilitated by Steve Johnson, ISU Extension Farm Management Specialist and last approximately 2 ½ hours.
Participants will receive a 100-page Farmland Leasing 2012 book and will learn about current land value and cash rental rate surveys, types of lease arrangements including flexible cash leases, determine a fair cash rent amount and tips for writing and terminating a farm lease.
Polk County Extension will host the Altoona meeting site on Wednesday evening, August 1, beginning at 7 pm. The location will be the Polk County Extension Office located at 1625 Adventureland Drive, Suite A, next to the Big Steer restaurant.
The registration fee is $20 per person or $30 per couple. Please pre-register on or before July 27 to avoid the $5 late fee that will be added to registration cost. For more information, to pre-register or to learn about other meeting dates in Central Iowa call 515-957-5760.
