Site Inventory: User Needs
What are the ages and physical conditions of the people who will be using the landscape? Do you have any pets? Do you need space for outdoor entertaining, gardening, or recreational activities? Is there a need for a work area, storage space, or clothes line? Also consider budget and time limitations.
Add that infomation to the site inventory list and/or to the site map.
- Site is located in a fairly new residential neighborhood.
- Soil is clay loam with a slightly acid pH of 6.0.
- Hardiness zone is 5a.
- Average annual precipitation is 34 inches. July, August and September are the driest months.
- Yew next to downspout is turning brown.
- Only access to street is from driveway. No clear paths from front of house to deck in back.
- House is constructed of red brick with white trim. Roof is dark gray.
- Owners are a young couple with two children, ages 4 and 7. Needs include children's play area, space for a vegetable garden and increased space for outdoor entertaining. The owners feel that the backyard, especially the deck, is too exposed to neighboring views. Owners have $1,500 for first year projects and enjoy gardening and being outside.
