Reducing Moisture Loss: Soil Improvements

Soil Improvements

Soil is a mixture of mineral particles, organic matter, microorganisms, water, and air. The addition of organic matter such as compost, animal manure's, peat moss, and aged wood byproducts can improve the structure of your soil.

If your soil is a heavy clay, organic matter will help loosen your soil. If it is a light sand, organic matter can slow the rate at which water moves through the soil. This creates a better environment for plants by improving the mixture of air and water available to plants roots.
