Climate and Microclimate - Hardiness Zones

It is important to know the hardiness zone of your location as well as the hardiness of the plants you are considering

A hardiness zone map, of the United States, is published by the USDA and the National Arboretum. Zones range from 1 to 10, with 1 being the coldest and 10 the warmest. These zones are based on average minimum temperatures.

NOTE: There are other hardiness zone maps in addition to the one published by the USDA and the National Arboretum. Always check to see which map is being used since the numbering system is not consistent for different maps.
