Plant Selections: Ground Covers and Vines

As the name implies, ground covers create a "carpet" on the ground. This section lists some ground covers that require little supplemental water and in many situations provide a more water efficient alternative to turf grass. Keep in mind that most ground covers are not very tolerant of traffic and footpaths may be needed.

Vines

Vines are often overlooked when planning a landscape. They may be used to provide an accent, to provide shade when trained over a lath or fence, and to screen undesirable views
