The Polk County 4-H program is vitally dependent on adults who take their time and energy and put it to work with Polk County's young people, our community's most valuable resource!

There are many ways to become involved as a 4-H volunteer.  You can:

• Share a skill or interest area with young people
• Meet monthly or weekly with a group of youth
• Help us with special events

These are just a few.  The first step to becoming involved with the 4-H program is to call our office.   We will be happy to sit down with you and talk about how your areas of strength can support our county's youth.

On-line Volunteer Training Site:  Youth Work Matters

The 4-H program offers statewide training for all volunteers.  Volunteers will receive:

• Guidance in creating safe environments for leadersa nd members
• Information and hands-on training on the best practices to strengthen members' understanding of leadership, citizenship and communications, as well as personal life and project skills
• Membership in an organization that values, supports and recognizes the role volunteers play in the life of 4-H youth.
