A celebration at the Clay County Fair will recognize current owners of land with ties to the beginning of Iowa’s land grant college. On Friday, Sept. 16 Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will honor landowners during the Iowa Land Grant Legacy Celebration 2- 4 p.m. at the Events Center Ballroom at the Clay County Fair.

Farmers, agronomists and agribusiness professionals are encouraged to seek out upcoming opportunities and new resources offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach on corn and soybean diseases during the late growing season, including a crop disease clinic, disease guides and an opportunity to speak with experts at the 2016 Farm Progress Show.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s Master Gardener Program awarded 25 grants totally $20,000 to projects across the state of Iowa aimed at increasing access to healthy foods for families experiencing poverty.

 

One of the grants, funded through the USDA SNAP-Ed program was to Pocahontas County. Pocahontas County had the focus to have students and Master Gardeners work together to grow produce to be donated to the local food pantry. Attached are a variety of pictures of the project.
