Join the Taste of Southern Iowa on Sept. 18

CHARITON, Iowa — Attend the Taste of Southern Iowa on Sept. 18 in Chariton to get a taste of the wide variety of foods produced in Iowa. Begin the evening with the 5 p.m. social hour, visit with vendors and take part in the buffet dinner from 6 to 8 p.m.

Taste of Southern Iowa will again be held in Carpenters Hall in Chariton. The social hour and dinner can be enjoyed for $15 per person. Local vendors will be on hand to visit with those attending as well as offer samples and products for sale.

“There are an amazing number of products that come from this area and the Taste of Southern Iowa is a fun way to introduce folks to local foods and the people producing them,” said Linda Baynes, Tourism Lucas County. “This year we will have beef and pork, vegetables and orchard products, along with cheeses, pies and bakery goods, homemade candy and premium popcorn — to name just a few.”

This unique event is sponsored by South Central Iowa Area Partnership, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Tourism Lucas County.
