Aronia Berry Festival set for September 5 and 6

Aronia berries contain very high levels of antioxidants that reduce the potential for cancer and heart disease, said Dr, Everhart. These plants are native to the Midwest and are well adapted to commercial berry production, ornamental landscape uses, wildlife plantings, and windbreak plantings.

In late summer 2004, we had about 15 people bring in tough, silken bags made of leaves or needles that were about two inches long. This year we did a brisk business in bagworm cases. Both rural and town residents asked, “What is this thing? There are all over my tree.”
