Few Spots Remain for Iowa Beef Producers Bus Trip
CHARITON, Iowa ― The three-day, three-state July bus trip for Iowa beef producers is nearly full, but organizer Joe Sellers said a few spots remain. The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach beef program specialist said registration is $100 per person and must be made quickly to ensure a place on the July 16-18 trip.
“If you’re interested in this trip, you need to contact me as soon as possible,” Sellers said. Checks should be made payable and sent to Lucas County Extension, 48293 Hy Vee Road, Chariton, IA 50049.
Sellers also suggests calling him at 641-203-1270 to let him know you will register. Attendees also need to make their own lodging reservations. The group is staying at the Holiday Inn Six Flags in Eureka, Mo., on July 16 and the Holiday Inn in Mount Vernon, Ill., on July 17. To make reservations at the Eureka location, call 800-782-8108 and mention "Land O’Lakes Purina Feed Iowa group." For the Mount Vernon location, call 800-243-7171 and mention "Iowa Beef Tour group."
Passenger pickup is as follows on the morning of July 16: Chariton at 7 a.m.; Albia at 7:45 a.m.; and Centerville at 8:20 a.m.
The trip includes tours of innovative beef operations and visits with successful producers and cutting edge researchers in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri, Sellers said. Sponsors Purina Animal Nutrition, Community 1st Credit Union, Great Western Bank, Midwest Heritage Bank, Lucas County Extension and Outreach, and the Iowa Beef Center all play important roles in helping provide an informative and educational opportunity for Iowa beef producers.
