Over 550 youth took part in Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach’s 2016 summer camps, with many of the participants attending multiple camps for a total of 1,411 camp participants. Five counties - O’Brien, Sioux, Lyon, Osceola and Clay - all join together each summer to provide these educational summer camps throughout Northwest Iowa.
Each year Iowa State University recognizes the excellence of faculty and staff accomplishments through university awards. Cheryl Heronemus, regional extension education director for counties in northwest Iowa, was honored with the 2015 R.K. Bliss Award. The award, named for the director of extension from 1912 to 1946, recognizes outstanding achievement of an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach staff member for developing an overall or continuing extension education program.
