Lamb Carcass Quality Meetings
November 19, 2014

Sheep producers and agribusiness staff are invited to a meeting in Sheldon, Ia. on Tuesday, Dec. 9 about how to improve lamb carcass quality, resulting in better returns for the producer. The lamb meeting is cooperatively sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Northwest Iowa Sheep Producers, Iowa Sheep and Wool Promotion Board, and Premier 1. The meeting will be held at the Pizza Ranch and begins with a 6 p.m. dinner, followed by a short business meeting and presentations from various university sheep specialists. What is FSQA? The Iowa 4-H Food Safety and Quality Assurance program is a curriculum consisting of a members manual, teaching outlines designed for three rotations and activities. It is designed to be                            coordinated by local staff and taught by local volunteers who are trained through a train-the-trainer approach, coordinated by the State 4-H Office. All 4-H’ers exhibiting beef, swine, sheep and dairy (both dairy cattle and dairy goat), meat goat, rabbit and poultry must get certified.
