Cooperative Elevator Association and Land O’ Lakes Support Local 4-H Programming
Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach, Region One 4-H programs will benefit from the generous support of the Cooperative Elevator Association (CEA) and Land O’ Lakes, Inc. Foundation through a $1,000 grant received by Kris Keene, O’Brien County 4-H and Youth Coordinator. Region 1 counties in the CEA/Land O’Lakes service area include O'Brien, Osceola, Sioux, Lyon, Dickinson and Clay counties.
These funds will be put towards the 4-H Agriculture Education program. In May, ISU Extension/4-H will be holding a multi-species livestock workshop, where 4-H youth will learn about care and handling of their 4-H livestock projects through hands-on activities.
The 4-H'ers will also be receiving instructions in Food Safety & Quality Assurance - a program geared at helping youth understand the importance of raising a safe, nutritious product for the consumer.
Without strong support from sponsors like CEA and Land O Lakes, the 4-H program would not be able to offer these great program opportunities for youth.
Steve Holtz, CEA Hartley location manager made the presentation.
