Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach invites area resident to attend a free lunch and learn on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Primghar Golf and Country Club. The lunch and learn entitled Writing Your Retirement Paycheck is ideal for those looking to retire within the next 10 years. Writing Your Retirement Paycheckis designed to provide those approaching retirement with the information they need to be prepared to “write their own paycheck.” The workshop outlines key factors to consider prior to retirement and describes strategies for structuring retirement income.

"Welcome to Retirement: Will you be ready?” is designed for adults of all ages, to build awareness of the costs faced by retirees and to learn ways to figure their own retirement readiness. Even those who are decades away from retirement can benefit by calculating whether their current savings rate is adequate to provide a comfortable retirement.

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach, Sioux Rivers and Northwest Iowa Care Connections invite caregivers of child(ren) with special health and behavioral needs to take part in a six-week free course designed specifically for family caregivers.  The Powerful Tools for Caregivers course will begin Sept. 12 and continue through Oct. 17 at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. Classes consist of six, 2-hour sessions held once a week – every Monday evening. A light meal will be provided at 5:30 p.m., followed by class from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) will affect production of all meat and dairy animals. 

Join us for a FREE educational session on the Veterinary Feed Directive. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Iowa Farm Bureau and the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association want to help you prepare for the new VFD requirements.

January 1, 2016

     1.  Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who share a love of gardening, an enthusiasm for learning,
     and a commitment to helping others. Core training consists of 40 hours of horticulture education. Topics
     include soil basics, lawn care, flower and vegetable gardening, ornamental trees and shrubs, fruit
     crops, houseplants, weed and pest control.
