Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach - O’Brien County and Willoway Complex are teaming up to offer an ‘Easy Care Gardening’ workshop on Thursday, May 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Willoway Complex in Sutherland. The program is geared towards seniors and individuals with mobility challenges, but anyone is welcome to attend. Margaret Murphy, local Horticulture Educator with ISU Extension and Outreach, will lead the program. 

April 10, 2017

The Multi-County Livestock Workshop will be held Thursday, June 1 at the Osceola County Fairgrounds in Sibley. A Last Chance FSQA Training will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for any 4-H members who still need to attend. The Osceola County Farm Bureau will provide supper to all attendees at 5:45 p.m. and the livestock workshops will begin at 6:00 p.m. 

March 1, 2017

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach is now accepting registrants for Annie’s Project, a program focused on empowering women in agriculture, to be held in Sheldon during April and May 2017. Annie’s Project is a six-session course created to guide women in making good decisions for their farm business. It will be held at Northwest Iowa Community College beginning Thursday, Apr. 20 and continuing Tuesday, Apr. 25, and the following Thursdays: Apr. 27, May 4, May 11 and May 18. There will be a meal at 5:30 p.m. and the session will last from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach and Northwest Iowa Community College are excited to offer local Latino families with the opportunity to take part in Juntos para una mejor educación (Together for a Better Education) in Sheldon beginning Mar. 30. Juntos is a series of activities  for middle school students and their families. The goal of the program is to bring families, schools and community members together to help youth succeed in school and identify paths to higher education.

Middle school youth in grades 6 through 8 are invited to attend 'PLUNGE INTO 4-H' camp on Friday-Saturday, April 28-29 at Camp Foster-YMCA near Spirit Lake. The event will feature team building activities, campfires, horseback riding, wall climbing, archery, service projects and more. Register now to guarantee your spot!
