For the third consecutive year rental rates for Iowa farmland declined, according to results from the 2016 Cash Rental Rates for Iowa Survey conducted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. After 15 consecutive years of rental price increases (1998-2012), prices have now gone down for three straight years.

Gary Wright, an Iowa State alumnus with extensive experience in agricultural finance and production, has joined the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach team as a farm management specialist, the university announced today.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, in partnership with the Iowa Beef Industry Council and Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, invite Northwest Iowa feedlot operators to take part in one of the upcoming Beef Feedlot Assessment Field Days. Each field day is scheudled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will last 1 hour. Pre-registration is encouraged.

The Multi-County Livestock Workshop will be held May 26, 2016, from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at the O'Brien County Fairgrounds in Primghar. Species will include beef, bucket calf, dairy, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits, poultry and horse. Register today!
