AMES, Iowa – Visitors to the Iowa State Fair Aug. 7-17 may venture with Cy around the fairgrounds to learn more about Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, as well as enjoy the exhibits of thousands of Iowa youth who participate in 4-H Youth Development.
Fans featuring Cy, Iowa State University’s mascot, will be available at the Bruce L. Rastetter 4-H Exhibits Building and Grandfather’s Barn. Fairgoers are encouraged to take selfies with their Cy fan at eight Extension and Outreach and partner locations around the fairgrounds. They may share their photos on Twitter and Facebook for a chance to win an iPad.
The locations are the Bruce L. Rastetter 4-H Exhibits Building, Iowa State University exhibit in the Varied Industries Building, Grandfather’s Barn Wine Experience, Poultry and Rabbit Building, Master Gardeners’ Discovery Garden, 4-H Safety and Education in Shooting Sports at the Department of Natural Resources Building, Service Center sponsored by Register Media, and the ISU Extension and Outreach sculpture. A sign or flag will mark each location and describe the connection to ISU Extension and Outreach.
In addition, Cy will participate in a celebrity grape stomp Aug. 14 at Grandfather’s Barn.
Extension and Outreach will be encouraging fairgoers, via social media, to wear their cardinal and gold Iowa State gear on Saturday, Aug 9.
