Updated Dry Grain Management Publication Available
AMES, Iowa - Completely rewritten and with new illustrations, Managing Dry Grain in Storage (AED-20) is available from MidWest Plan Service (MWPS), headquartered at Iowa State University.
Written for farmers, elevator personnel and other managers of stored grain, this publication explains what causes grain to go out of condition and offers advice on how to manage grain to prevent storage problems.
It focuses on cylindrical storage structures (round metal or concrete bins), but offers principles of grain storage management that apply to all types of storage, contained or open, in structures or on the ground. It emphasizes maintenance of grain at initial storage moisture and does not address intentional drying or rewetting of grain.
Managing Dry Grain in Storage, Second Edition, is available from MWPS for $8 plus shipping and handling. Volume discounts are available. The publication, as well as the free MWPS catalog and other low-cost and free MWPS materials, may be ordered on the Web at www.mwpshq.org, by e-mail at mwps@iastate.edu, by phone at (800) 562-3618 or (515) 294-4337, by fax at (515) 294-9589 or by writing MidWest Plan Service, 122 Davidson Hall, Iowa State University, Ames, IA, 50011-3080.
