ISU Farm Income Tax School Offered in Eight Cities

AMES, Iowa - Dates have been scheduled in October, November and December for the annual Farm Income Tax School offered under the direction of Neil E. Harl, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture at Iowa State University.

Harl, who is on the economics faculty at ISU and also is a member of the Iowa Bar Association, has directed the seminars for more than 20 years. The two-day tax school will be offered in eight Iowa Communities between Oct. 29 and Dec. 16. Harl is retiring from his faculty position at the end of this year. He will present the first day's program at all eight locations, and will be joined by Roger McEowen, associate professor of agricultural law, who came to ISU last August to assume some of Harl's responsibilities. McEowen will present the second day program at four of the eight locations, and several noted Iowa tax attorneys will conduct the second day program at the other locations.

The Farm Income Tax School is offered to tax preparation professionals, including attorneys, accountants, and enrolled agents. The registration fee for the two-day program is $150, which includes continental breakfasts, lunches, and break refreshments. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Dates of the tax schools and the communities that will host them are as follows:

Oct. 28 and 29: Tax school in Sheldon at the Northwest Iowa Community College. Harl will teach on Oct. 28 and McEowen on Oct. 29.

Nov. 2 and 3: Tax school in Fort Dodge at the Starlite Village Best Western. Harl will teach on Nov. 2, and three tax attorneys, David Bibler of Algona, James Goodman of Marshalltown and Lee Wilmarth of Decorah will teach on Nov. 3.

Nov. 11 and 12: Tax school in Mason City at North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City. Harl will teach on Nov. 11, and three tax attorneys, David Bibler of Algona, James Goodman of Marshalltown and Lee Wilmarth of Decorah will teach on Nov. 12.

Nov. 18 and 19: Tax school in Ottumwa at Indian Hills Community College. Harl will teach on Nov. 18, and three tax attorneys, David Bibler of Algona, James Goodman of Marshalltown and Lee Wilmarth of Decorah will teach on Nov. 19.

Nov. 22 and 23: Tax school in Muscatine at the Holiday Inn. Harl will teach on Nov. 22 and McEowen will teach on Nov. 23.

Nov. 30 and Dec. 1: Tax school in Atlantic at the Cass County Community Building. Harl will teach on Nov. 30 and McEowen will teach on Dec. 1.

Dec. 14 and 15: Tax school in Waterloo at Hawkeye Community College. Harl will teach on Dec. 14, and three tax attorneys, David Bibler of Algona, James Goodman of Marshalltown and Lee Wilmarth of Decorah will teach on Dec. 15.

Dec. 15 and 16: Tax school in Ames at the Quality Inn and Suites. Harl will teach on Dec. 15 and McEowen will teach on Dec. 16.
