4-H Day at the Legislature
More than 570 Iowa 4-H'ers representing 73 counties will participate in the third annual 4-H Day at the Legislature, Tuesday, March 23, in Des Moines. Sen. Nancy Boettger and Rep. Mary Mascher, honorary co-chairs for the event, will address the group at the Historical Building, following an omelet breakfast sponsored by the Iowa Egg Council. Eva Sersland and Klaire O'Rourke, former pages and 4-H members, also will address the group. After a morning of legislative workshops at the Historical Building, the 4-H'ers go to the Capitol to display service projects in the Rotunda and meet with legislators. Also available during the day are career tours to Pioneer Seeds, Principal Financial, Kemin Industries, the Iowa Supreme Court and State Library, and the Des Moines Register.
Iowa State University Extension Communication Services will provide audio interviews with 4-H'ers from each of the 73 counties recorded at the Capitol Building. Radio stations may download the interviews at a page linked off the ISU Extension Web site at http://www.extension.iastate.edu. Interviews will be uploaded to the Web March 24.
