Iowa 4-H Center to Have Day Camps
MADRID, Iowa -- This summer, the Iowa 4-H Center will be offering six weeks of Day Camp for 6-10 year olds. Pick-up and drop-off locations will be in Boone and Madrid. "Day camps at the Iowa 4-H Center are designed to allow each camper an opportunity to participate in experiences that will strengthen their sense of belonging, independence, generosity and mastery," said Traci Stephens, program specialist of the Iowa 4-H Center.
Each day camp session will contain a variety of activities such as crafts, swimming, games, talent shows and singing camp songs. Campers will be provided with lunch and two snacks during the day.
Week #1- Kids and Climbing: Campers will make and fly a kite, set off a paper rocket, climb the tower, and the high ropes course.
Week #2- Kids and Circles: Campers will participate in archery, hoola-hoops, ball games, and parachute games.
Week #3- Kids and Creativity: Campers will tie-dye clothing, create skits, learn cooking skills including making homemade ice cream and make crafts.
Week #4- Kids and Camping: Campers will learn camping procedures including setting up and taking down tents and fire building. These campers will learn to cook out, hike and GPS.
Week #5- Kids and Critters: Campers will go on nature hikes, catch bugs, make a bird house, see animals and sing songs.
Week #6- Kids and Canoeing: Campers will go on a creek walk, canoe at the pond, receive swimming instruction and have water games.
