Ladd Named Southwest Area Extension Director
AMES, Iowa - Alan Ladd has been named southwest area education director for Iowa State University Extension. He is based at the ISU Extension Southwest Area office in the Wallace Learning Center at the Armstrong Research Farm in Lewis. Ladd began his position June 1.
"We're pleased Alan Ladd has joined our staff," said Stanley Johnson, vice provost for ISU Extension. "His years of experience at the county level have prepared him well for the challenges of leading ISU Extension's educational programming in our 19-county southwest area."
Ladd comes to Iowa from Kansas, where he served in county director, agricultural agent and 4-H agent positions since 1979. He received his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Kansas State University.
As southwest area extension education director, Ladd will lead staff based in ISU Extension's 20 county offices in southwest Iowa (Pottawattamie County has two offices.) He'll also work with the publicly elected extension councils in those counties.
"I am excited to be a part of the ISU Extension team and look forward to meeting staff and clients in southwest Iowa," Ladd said. "I will be visiting with them to learn more about ISU Extension programs and how I can help support the staff and extension councils."
Extension provides research-based information and education for agriculture and natural resources, business and industry, communities, families and 4-H youth development, as well as continuing education through off-campus credit courses, degree programs, service-learning programs, noncredit conferences and seminars, and educational materials.
