Integrated Crop Management Field Day Offered by ISU
Iowa State University Extension and the Rathbun Lake Special Project are sponsoring an Integrated Crop Management Field Day at the ISU McNay Memorial Research Farm on June 24.
The purpose of the field day is to inform producers on use of nitrogen, phosphorus and atrazine in profitable field crop production and the effects on water quality in the Lake Rathbun Watershed.
Speakers and topics include: John Sawyer, ISU crop nutrient specialist, Nitrogen Use in Corn Production; Antonio Mallarino, ISU Extension nutrient specialist, Soil Testing and Phosphorus Application; and Bob Hartzler, ISU weed scientist, Alternates to Atrazine Use in Corn Production.
Field tours will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a free picnic dinner following. Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, June 22. Pre-register by calling the ISU Extension Monroe County office at (641) 932-5612.
To get to McNay Memorial Research Farm go south 4 miles on Highway 65 from the intersection of highways 65 and 34, then 2.5 miles east on a gravel road and turn north .25 mile. The headquarters is on the east side of the road.
