Beef Estrus Synchronization Webcast to Feature Cliff Lamb
AMES, Iowa - - Iowa's beef producers are invited to a statewide webcast spotlighting beef estrus synchronization on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. The two-hour session will feature Cliff Lamb, associate professor of reproductive physiology and beef cattle management at the University of Minnesota.
Lamb is a leading expert on estrus synchronization, and will be joined by Daryl Strohbehn, professor of animal science at Iowa State University, to engage producers in several topics, including fixed-timed artificial insemination, methods of estrus control, a breeding female evaluation for synchronization systems, and a hands-on demonstration of the Iowa Beef Center's new "Estrus Synchronization Planner" software.
"A great deal of the excellent research on fixed-time synchronization systems has been coordinated by Lamb," says Strohbehn. "Producers will gain excellent insight into the strategies of synchronization programs, especially fixed-time artificial insemination."
Sponsors of the webcast include the Iowa Beef Center at ISU and Pfizer Animal Health.
Interested participants can contact their local ISU Extension beef specialist for the location nearest them. Registration at the door is $15. For more information and a list of locations, visit the calendar page at www.iowabeefcenter.org.
