Schrandt-Prouty Named Northeast Area Extension Director
AMES, Iowa - Mary Schrandt-Prouty has been named northeast area education director for Iowa State University Extension. She is based at the ISU Industry Outreach Center in Cedar Falls. Schrandt-Prouty began the position Dec. 1.
"We're pleased Mary has accepted this position," said Stanley Johnson, vice provost for ISU Extension. "Because of her experience with ISU Extension, she has already built strong relationships and partnerships with area staff, extension councils and organizations."
As northeast area extension education director, Schrandt-Prouty will lead staff based in ISU Extension's 20 county offices in northeast Iowa. She'll also work with the publicly elected extension councils in those counties.
"I am excited to be serving in this role," Schrandt-Prouty said. "The northeast area has great ISU Extension programs, staff, extension councils and partners. I am pleased to be able to work with such dedicated groups of people in ISU Extension and look forward to the challenge."
Schrandt-Prouty joined ISU Extension in 1990 as a county home economist for Howard and Winneshiek counties. In 1992, she became ISU Extension education director for Chickasaw County. In July 2004, she was named interim director in northeast Iowa.
Before joining ISU Extension, she had positions with Kansas State University Extension. She received her bachelor's degree from ISU and her master's degree from Kansas State.
Extension provides research-based information and education for agriculture and natural resources, business and industry, communities, families and 4-H youth development, as well as continuing education through off-campus credit courses, degree programs, service-learning programs, noncredit conferences and seminars, and educational materials.
