Iowa Beef Center Welcomes New Extension Economist
AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Beef Center (IBC) at Iowa State University is pleased to introduce Shane Ellis as the center's new Extension program specialist. Ellis comes to Iowa State University (ISU) from Utah State University Extension, where he served as agricultural risk management specialist.
A native of Valentine, Neb., Ellis earned associate degrees from Brigham Young University-Idaho (Rexburg) and most recently Utah State, where he earned his master's degree in applied economics. "We're happy to have Shane join our team," says John Lawrence, ISU Extension economist and director of the IBC. "His knowledge and past experience will assist producers in evaluating marketing and risk management decisions."
Ellis' duties will include market analysis for cattle and hogs, as well as dissemination and presentation of market forecasts. In addition, Ellis will assist in ISU Extension education programs and will contribute to the Iowa Farm Outlook Newsletter. He can be contacted by phone at (515) 294-8030 or by email at shanee@iastate.edu.
The Iowa Beef Center began operation in 1996 to support the growth and vitality of the beef cattle industry of the state.
