Ouart Appointed Associate Vice Provost for Extension

AMES, Iowa -- Michael Ouart has been appointed associate vice provost for Iowa State University Extension. He assumed his new duties Sept. 1.

Before coming to ISU, Ouart was assistant director and state program leader for Agriculture and Natural Resources with the Mississippi State University Extension Service. His extension career also includes experience in Kansas, Colorado and Florida.

"We are pleased that Michael Ouart has accepted our offer to become associate vice provost for ISU Extension," said Stanley R. Johnson, ISU Extension's vice provost. "He brings a solid academic record as a faculty member in Animal Science. His background in Extension administration and commitment to Extension and the land grant system was evident to the search committee and to all of the other faculty and staff who participated in the interview process."

In his new position, Ouart will assist in providing leadership and vision for the ISU Extension system and budget, $73.3 million in Fiscal Year 02. Together with Extension's administrative team, he'll develop and coordinate extension programming and initiatives and link the ISU campus and ISU Extension field staff. He'll also work with the Iowa Association of County Extension Councils and the Extension Citizens' Advisory Committee, as well as represent ISU Extension with state agencies, special interest groups and extension stakeholders.

Ouart can be reached at michaelo@iastate.edu or (515) 294-7024.
