Manure Applicator Certification Program offered at Turkey Grower's Annual Meeting
Iowa State University Extension in cooperation with the Iowa Turkey Federation and the Iowa Poultry Association will be offering a two-hour manure applicator certification workshop for poultry producers at the Iowa Turkey Federation's annual meeting on December 3, 2003 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
This meeting is for poultry producers who need to meet the training requirements as confinement site manure applicators. The workshop will provide the two hours of annual training to meet the 2004 requirements. Workshop topics will include current regulatory requirements for manure applicators, stockpiling manure and water quality issues, and solid manure distribution from different types of dry manure application equipment.
The meeting will be held at Stoney Creek Inn, in Johnston, Iowa. Applicators need to be at the session prior to 12:30 p.m. and also need to bring their current certification number to complete paperwork requirements. There is no registration fee for the meeting, but applicators are asked to pre-register prior to December 1, 2003 by calling Angie Rieck-Hinz, ISU Extension program specialist, Iowa State University at (515) 294-9590.
