Sport Packages Featured in 4-H Auction

AMES, Iowa - One lucky bidder and nine other friends will enjoy an Iowa Cubs game from a luxury skybox with complimentary food and beverage service. Another bid winner will get away to St. Louis for a Cardinals game and dinner at KC Masterpiece. These are just two of the 23 entertainment and sport packages up for bid at the seventh annual 4-H benefit auction July 21 at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines.

The auction features a range of items from a complimentary room at the Butler House B&B in Des Moines to a seven-day golf vacation package at Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony in Williamsburg, Va.

Thirteen area golf packages will be on the auction block. Participating courses include Amana Colonies; Bos Landen, Pella; Briarwood, Ankeny; Brooks, Okoboji; Coldwater, Ames; Geneva Golf and Country Club, Muscatine; Hunter's Ridge, Marion; The Legacy, Norwalk; Spencer Golf and Country Club; Timber Line, Peosta; TPC at Deere Run, Silvis, Ill.; Veenker, Ames; and Wakonda, Des Moines. All golf packages include green fees and carts for four players.

Proceeds from the 4-H auction benefit the 125,000 Iowa youths served by the program. Bidders need not be present. Bids will be accepted by phone until noon July 21. The 4-H auction is held in conjunction with the "Going for the Green" golf tournament at Wakonda.
