2/13/03 NEWS RELEASE Contacts: Regional Forestry Conference Scheduled Ames, IA - Forest landowners from southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri and eastern Illinois are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Tri-State Forest Stewardship Conference on Saturday, March 22 at Grand Theatre in Keokuk, Iowa. "People are recognizing that woodlands are becoming more valuable for many reasons and products," says Paul H. Wray, extension forester, Iowa State University. "Woodlands provide a host of benefits including aesthetics, alternative crops, wood products, wildlife habitat, woodland edibles, alternative crops and many others." This stewardship conference offers landowners four concurrent workshop series to choose from: wildlife and forest health, forestry beginnings, working trees and forest management. The keynote speaker is Steve Bratkovich of the USDA Forest Service in St. Paul, Minn. The topic for the keynote address is "Small Woodlots, Big Appetites." Some of the other workshops are
The conference registration fee is $35 per person or $60 for couples and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. The cost increases by $5 for registrations after March 16.
