AMES, Iowa -- Volunteers who plan to help identify 4-H beef cattle and sheep that will be eligible for the Iowa State Fair must attend a training session by the Iowa State University (ISU) Extension 4-H Youth Development. Beginning this year, all 4-H market beef and sheep that may possibly exhibit at the Iowa State Fair must be identified and have their identities verified.

Volunteers will be trained to nose print livestock, collect DNA samples and handle all identification samples.

The training sessions will be offered in Lewis, Ames, Carroll, Chariton, Columbus Junction, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Calmar, Mason City and Spencer during the weeks of Nov. 11 and Nov. 18. For more information, contact your county ISU Extension office.
