5/21/02 Contacts: National Satellite Series Addresses Healthy Teen Development Issues AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University Extension's Healthy Teen Development, a two-part national satellite series, provides a better understanding of how teens develop and make decisions, what influences their sexual development and the important role parents, other adults and communities play in their lives. The Healthy Teen Development series is being broadcast in October 2002, in various locations throughout the United States. Kimberly Greder, Iowa State University Extension family life specialist, said "Satellite delivery allows for a national broadcast to sites that are convenient for participants. Viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions via live call-in sessions and to learn from and network with others who share similar interests or concerns about teen development." Healthy Teen Development is presented by prominent researchers and practitioners located nationwide who specialize in adolescent development and sexuality. The series is designed for counselors, psychologists, teachers, extension staff, volunteer leaders, nonprofit agencies serving teens and their families and future professionals (college students). Details on the Healthy Teen Development series are available on the Web at www.extension.iastate.edu/teen/ or by calling Joyce Howard at (515) 294-8754. -30- ml: imajor |
