Program Helps Homeowners Apply Lawn Fertilizers and Pesticides

Ames, Iowa - A template is available to homeowners on the Nitrogen and Phosphorus Knowledge web page (http://extension.agron.iastate.edu/NPKnowledge/). This computer template, developed by Iowa State University (ISU) Extension, helps homeowners determine the correct amount of fertilizer and pesticide to apply to their lawns. Applying the correct amount of these substances saves homeowners money and reduces environmental pollution to Iowa's surface waters.

The template, instructions and a lime table are available by going to the above web page and clicking "Other Links." The materials and related information are listed under the last bullet point under "Iowa State University Links."

For additional assistance, contact your county ISU Extension office.
